Sir Alex Ferguson To Be Honored With A Statue At Aberdeen

Aberdeen Football Club have commissioned a statue of Sir Alex Ferguson to commemorate his contributions to the club.

"I can’t wait to see it!”

The announcement was made in a club statement.

Commenting on the plans for his sculpture, Sir Alex said: “I am thrilled and honoured by this recognition from Aberdeen Football Club, where I spent a fantastic and memorable part of my managerial career. I am particularly pleased with the image the Club has chosen to base the statue on and with the choice of sculptor whose recent work is incredibly lifelike. I can’t wait to see it!”

Sir Alex managed the Dons from 1978 to 1986, winning three league titles, four Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup domestically.

His crowning achievement came in 1982‐1983 when Aberdeen beat Real Madrid 2‐1 to win the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in Gothenburg, following that up with Super Cup victory against Hamburg over two legs.
