Celtic Could Soon Sign Another Jeremie Frimpong

Rumors of a £300,000 deal intensify.

Celtic are eyeing up a deal to sign Bayern Munich's Christopher Scott – and fans are drawing parallels to former Bhoys star Jeremie Frimpong.

Yes, the summer transfer window is kind of far away, but Celtic are still being linked with potential new signings.

With the Scottish Premiership title in sight, and the likely potential of Champions League football next season, Ange Postecoglou will need to strengthen his squad.

Multiple reports claim Celtic could strike a £300,000 deal with Bayern for the 19-year-old Scott to leave the club this summer.

Scott may not be known by many. He's only played a handful of times for Bayern's first team and arrived there from Bayer Leverkusen. He's been farmed out to Bayern's fourth division squad - something that may not excite Celtic fans right away.

But there is reason to be intrigued. The potential deal is reminiscent of Celtic signing Jeremie Frimpong back in 2019.

Frimpong was featuring in Manchester City’s development ranks but found it hard to break through with an elite club.

Enter Celtic, who signed him in a bargain deal worth around £350,000 - a fee similar to Scott's potential deal.

From there, Frimpong was given a platform to shine and did so by excelling in the Celtic first team to showcase his huge potential.

Just a few years later in January, 2021 Bayer Leverkusen swooped in with an £11.5M deal for Frimpong - not a bad bit of business for Celtic - even though Man City still got a bit of the profits.

The low risk, high reward kind of deals is exactly what Celtic will be looking for as they look forward to a new era.

Talented youngsters who can't quite break through at their home clubs are desperate for a chance to play, and Celtic can provide that, doing so in the top tier of European football.
